What to Expect

We don’t always understand our feelings and behaviours, and sometimes we just need a little support and help.

Do you feel lost, anxious, or unsure of where you’re going?

Do you feel caught up in a roundabout? Constantly moving, yet feel stuck in the same cycles? Together we can explore your unique roundabout. We will learn about its significance.

Once you are ready, we’ll start moving towards one of the exits with your new destination in mind. With so many different types of counselling and therapists available today, deciding who will be the right counsellor for you can be overwhelming.

Expectations

Not knowing what to expect from therapy can be daunting, especially for first-timers.
To make the process a little less daunting for you, I have outlined how things will unfold;

1. Making Contact and Introductions

There are several different types of counselling, and therapists, and deciding who will be the right one for you can be a little overwhelming.

If you think I may be the right therapist for you, please get in touch. We’ll set up a free 15-minute online or telephone chat to see what you would like help with. From there, we’ll identify if we are a good fit and take the next step together.

2. Getting Started

Our first therapy session will feel a little different from our ongoing sessions. There may be additional questions you wish to ask arising from our introduction call, and in this session, there will be an opportunity for you to do so.

I will also be asking you several questions to find out a little more about you, who you are and what you hope therapy might give you.

3. Ongoing sessions

Sessions are 50-minutes long, and they usually take place on the same day, at the same time every week. I understand that depending on your circumstances, this might not always be possible, so we can discuss this during our initial call.

I will not tell you what to do, but together we can explore whatever is troubling you, your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Whatever your reason for seeking counselling, therapy provides you with a safe space to explore your reactions to events or within certain relationships.

Ultimately, you may discover areas that you wish to change, or find different ways of coping, to bring you to a point of a more fulfilled life.

Counselling tailored to your needs

We’re all individuals and your therapy process will be unique and tailored to you. The length of time in counselling is adaptable to each person, and will depend on your reasons for reaching out for help, and what you hope to get from it.
